LinkBuilder.io Review (2026)
A decade-old Edinburgh agency, now owned by the US group behind The HOTH, with real third-party reviews and big-brand case studies. HARO is a minor tactic inside expensive monthly retainers, so it ranks lower here than its pedigree suggests.

Overview
LinkBuilder.io was founded in Edinburgh in 2016 by Stewart and Michael Dunlop and sold in autumn 2023 to Next Net Media, the Florida company that also owns The HOTH, Authority Builders and SEOJet. At the time of sale it reported mid-seven-figure revenue, around 100 clients and a team of about 35, mostly contractors. The public team page now shows first names only, led by Bryan, “Chief Link Building Strategist”.
This is a full-service white-hat link building agency. Journalist-request work exists, with a dedicated HARO page describing how the team monitors HARO and Qwoted and writes sub-200-word answers, but there is no HARO package, no HARO price and no HARO case study. If you want a HARO specialist, this is not one; if you want a managed programme in which HARO is one tactic among several, read on.
What they sell
- Managed link building retainers: Startup $2,999 a month for 8 links, Pro $5,999 for 16+, Growth $9,999 for 26+, Enterprise $19,999 for 53+, all quoting an average DR of 50–90.
- AEO packages: $3,000 and $5,000 a month for “authority signals” aimed at AI search visibility.
- Add-ons: Earned Media press syndication at $3,500 a month, Digital PR Plus at about $5,000 per campaign, white-label per-link pricing for agencies.
Pricing and terms
Retainers run on a six-month term with a 90-day opt-out, so the realistic minimum commitment is about $18,000. The pricing page mentions a money-back guarantee with costs deducted, while the terms of service say purchases are final, there are no refunds, statements of work cannot be cancelled and plans auto-renew with 15 days’ notice. That contradiction is the single biggest thing to resolve before signing. The homepage also references “webmaster fees” of at least $100 per link, a sign that some placements are paid.
HARO itself is billed per link when it is used, with the agency’s own page stating there is “no way to guarantee links” from the tactic; that is honest, but it means you cannot budget for HARO specifically.
Process and platforms
The six-stage process covers analysis, strategy with an outreach persona, prospecting, email outreach with A/B tests and calls, relationship building and reporting. Clients get a real-time tracking sheet, a monthly report, a client portal and Slack access with same-day replies. For HARO, team members write and submit the answers; the agency does not publish a success rate or a DR vetting threshold for request-platform links.
Placement evidence
Thirty-one anonymised case studies list link counts, timeframes and traffic changes (for example a fintech client up 107.6% with 2,150 links over 16 months), and the site names clients including Udemy, SoFi, TripAdvisor, SolarWinds, LegalZoom and Drip. For HARO specifically there are only two example placements, on LegalZoom and Raven Tools. The volume and named brands make this the strongest general evidence in our group, with the caveat that almost none of it is journalist-request work.
Reputation and trust signals
LinkBuilder.io is the only agency here with a meaningful third-party footprint: Clutch shows 4.6 from 14 reviews, twelve of them five stars, plus a 0.5-star review from August 2026 alleging generic, off-niche links. Trustpilot has a single 3.2 review from a publisher owed $69. Glassdoor carries a handful of positive employee reviews. The acquisition was brokered by FE International and is on the public record. Weak spots are the first-names-only team page, inconsistent headcount claims (43, 10–49 and 2–10 across sources) and marketing lines such as “insane rankings”.
Support and reporting
Shared tracking sheet, monthly reports, client portal, Slack channel, dedicated strategist and, at the Enterprise tier, calls with “the founder”. Support is a clear strength and the main reason the agency scores above its HARO depth.
Verdict
Hire LinkBuilder.io if you have a five-figure quarterly budget and want a managed, multi-tactic link programme with an account team and real references. Do not hire it as a HARO specialist: there is no HARO price, no HARO track record on display and no guarantee the tactic will be used at all. Before signing, get the refund position reconciled in writing and ask what share of links will be earned editorial placements rather than paid.
Pros
- Ten-year history and a publicly recorded acquisition
- Clutch 4.6/5 from 14 reviews, the only real review footprint in our group
- Named enterprise clients and 31 case studies
- Strong account management: portal, Slack, monthly reports
- Published retainer pricing
Cons
- HARO is a side tactic with no package, price or results
- About $18,000 minimum commitment over six months
- Pricing page promises refunds the terms of service rule out
- Some placements involve "webmaster fees", so not all links are earned
- Team page shows first names only since the acquisition
